GAIT Festival - St.Britto's Academy

November 19, 2016

GAIT Festival

GAIT festival was held in Music Academy, Alwarpet on November 19, 2016 to create awareness among students about space and body by illustrating through movement their understanding of personal space in general space, positive and negative space and to explore how to use their body parts differently. The GAIT trainers of St.Britto’s Academy, Ms. Annette and Ms. Aakruthi, helped the children understand why the theme of circus was chosen and walked them through the flow of the performance. The trainers laid the foundation for the different acts and the children built the performance based on it. Having the theme as circus, children showcased their talents using their body parts innovatively to form different shapes, dimensions and maintaining their personal space in general space.

Students created shapes with their full body. Children explored themselves with an octaband and formed pyramids, shapes, stunts and puppets. This helped in triggering the creative potential in children. Children understood the importance of   personal space in general space as they exposed themselves in to different shapes using their body. They also developed their interpersonal skills and creativity and understood the importance of team work. Overall, it was a visual treat for the audience.
