French National Day was observed on the 14 th of July 2016 by students of classes VI to IX in the SMR Hall. Bastille DayĀ is the common name given in English-speaking countries to the FrenchĀ National Day, which is celebrated on 14 July each year. Bastille Day, the French National Holiday, commemorates the storming of the Bastille, which took place on 14 July 1789 and marked the beginning of the French Revolution.Ā Bastille Day has such a strong signification for the French because the holiday symbolizes the birth of the Republic. The Day is a day of celebrations of Ā French culture. A raft of exceptional events like video presentation on French Revolution, songs (in French) and dance made this anniversary an especially festive one in SBA. The must-see show of the Bastille Day was the Fashion Parade and the colourful dance . The Chief Guest, Ms. Mary Maya Abraham, was welcomed by Mitchell of class X B in French. Compering was done in French by Sanjay and it was translated into English by Niharika. Students harmoniously sang the National Anthems of India and France against the backdrop of the spectacular National Flags of both the countries. The Department of French offered cake to the participants of the programme.
