SBA staged ACR-EN ART, a spectacular three days’ Art Exhibition-cum-Sale, featuring the professionally framed artwork of nearly 200 students on 1 February 2017 to boost students’ self-esteem by celebrating their talent in a real art gallery. The Art Gallery was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Merry Biju, Proprietress, Cherian Art Gallery, in the presence of Ms. Esther Lee, and Mr. Charles Lee, Director General, TAIPEI Economic and Cultural Centre. Students painted on poster, canvas, coffee, tiles, wet chalk, salt and glass in addition to, Pencil Shading, Mehendi,
Tattoo designing and Nail Art. Modern Art, Cartoonic Sketches, Sceneries and Villages, Abstract Designing and Junk Art attracted the viewers. Interior designing of the Gallery was another attraction. The Craft Display included wall hanging, Flower Basket, Mask, Bookmark, Friendship Band, Rangoli, Embose painting, Glass Painting, Beads and Silk Thread Jewellery, Wax Candle, Paper Flowers, Pouches and Purses on Glitter foam sheet, Jute Bag, Pen Stand, Photo Frame, Jewellery Box and Greeting Card. The incredibly successful fundraising exhibition was interesting and well-presented. The Department of Art and Craft raised money for charity through the sale of framed pictures to parents. Sale of the framed artwork of the students is available online on seek foundation website as well. The proceeds of the sale are handed over to SEEK FOUNDATION, an NGO under the initiative of Correspondent, Mrs. Vimala Britto that supports the educational and medical needs of the under privileged section of the society. Parents loved their children’s exhibitions. They enjoyed touring the Gallery and discussing the pictures with their friends and children. The educational aspect of the project was underpinning learning through art with the exhibition as a focal point. The Principal, Mrs. Mary Vasantha Kumari, said she was eager to make it a regular feature in their school calendar.
