ONE DAY WORKSHOP at the FARM
Students of Std IX , St. Britto’s Academy participated in the ONE DAY WORKSHOP at the FARM, held at Farm Guru, Athur village on 13th July as a part of the Project for International School Award 2020-2023 instituted by the British Council.
The 64 acre land with plantations such as Paddy, Bottle gourd, Bitter gourd, Brinjal, Cluster beans, Coconut tree, Drumstick tree and so on, provided the practical approach to learning. An orientation on the importance of agriculture and the efforts of farmers, the types of farming and the importance of food was conducted by a member of the Organization.
Students were given practical experience on paddy plantation step by step which includes practices such as ploughing, sowing, transplanting, harvesting of vegetables and traditional seed polishing.
Students were also explicated about techniques such as mulching, compost making, and green – house maintenance. As a leisure activity students involved in catching fishes and riding the bullock- cart.
The entire programme was an eye opener for the present generation students.
