“The ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all”

INTRODUCTION

• National Voters’ Day has been celebrated on January 25 every year since 2011, all across the country to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India, i.e. 25th January 1950.

• The main purpose of the NVD celebration is to encourage, facilitate and maximize enrolment, especially for the new voters.
• Dedicated to the voters of the country, the day is utilized to spread awareness among voters and for promoting informed participation in the electoral process

ASSEMBLY TEAM-

Students of class VII have worked together as a team and presented a melange of ideas, thoughts, and expressions through song, dance, and puppet show on the topic.

MESSAGE CONVEYED:

• National Voters’ Day is an important event that we celebrate to make people aware of voting rights and the electoral process of India.
• Voting right is an important right in any democracy. Every citizen has the right to vote and everyone who is eligible must vote.
• We urge everyone to make the objective of this day a success and build a better Nation with their active participation in Indian politics.
• Any nation can achieve its goals when it is ruled by competent people and it is our duty to give power to those who are competent enough to run the country.

LEARNING OUTCOMES-

GENERAL-

• Discuss the importance of voting in democratic societies.
• Learn how compulsory voting works in democratic countries that use it.
• Encourage student engagement with their representatives in local government and in the parliament.

SPECIFIC-

• Explain the voting process/ how to actually vote
• Evaluate the importance of voting in elections at the national, state, and local level.

TESTIMONIES/ REFLECTIONS

I would like to first thank my class teacher for giving me a wonderful opportunity. The theme of today’s special assembly is ” National Voters Day “. I involved myself in the puppetry show. The puppetry show is all about the importance of voting. This assembly was just very fun and informative. What I like even more is the quiz. I learned that national voter’s day is celebrated in order to encourage more young voters to take part in the political process. I also learned that voting is a basic process that helps to form a country’s government and also One can choose their representatives through voting. I also learned that voting rights enable people the right to question the government about issues and clarifications. I learned many more …..

An ideal quote said by Abraham Lincoln ( 16 th president of USA) “The ballot is stronger than the bullet” was also said by one of the students in the special assembly. Overall I enjoyed the assembly very well. A big thanks to all the teachers of grade 7 who supported all of us and made this assembly informative and fun as well.
