SBA celebrated India’s 70th Independence Day on 15 August 2016 in the open ground of the school with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The students rededicated themselves to serve the nation with pride as responsible citizens. As part of the celebrations, the Principal unfurled the National Flag and accepted the Guard of Honour by the contingents of the Prefects’ Council and the Four Houses. In her address to the gathering, the Principal counted the achievements of Independent India, the difference of laws between India and China and stressed on how each student as a citizen of India should contribute to the growth of India. The students of classes VI-IX presented a Skit depicting glances of 1857 Revolt, Jallianwala Bagh and the final moments of Kodikatha Kumaran, and advocated Patriotism and National unity. The students of classes VI and IX danced to the tunes of a Patriotic song which emphasized on unity, diversity and strength of our nation. Niveditha of Class VI spoke on the significance of the day, while Shreya and Shivani of class VI engaged in a short conversation on the modern developments and achievements of Mother India. Children spread the cheer around as they sang a special Patriotic Song. The programme ended when Mr. Gokul Raj , the Physical Director and the PRO of the school, asked the students to repeat ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ after him.
