The Poetry Fest which is a part of Young Forum, BYC was organized on 4th of November, 2016 to appreciate the work of renowned poets, review their works and do a comparative study on their writing styles. The students of classes IV and V and participants of other city schools congregated in the school SMR Hall. After a solemn beginning to the programme, the Inter- school competition was conducted for 13 schools in which poems taken from different poets of the specified countries were enacted and recited on stage.
The winner of the contest was National Public School and the runner-up of the contest was Apex Pon Vidhyashram.
Master Kevin Blesson from Velammal New Gen School was adjudged The Young Poet of Young Forum. The programme concluded with the singing in unison of National Anthem. The Poetry Fest enabled the students to become acquainted themselves with poets of different countries , their biographies , works and study on their writing styles. It facilitated the students to appreciate poems and imbibe the values in their lives. They also developed their critical thinking, reading, speaking and writing skills.
