SBA celebrated World Food Day on October 17, 2016 , a day of action against hunger, to enable the students to understand that every human being has a fundamental right to be free from hunger and the right to adequate food. A Special Assembly was organized by class III in the SMR Hall. A special song on Healthy Food was sung by students of class III. The students of class III voiced their views in a Panel Discussion on this year’s theme ‘Climate is changing ! Food and Agriculture too.’ Niranjan of Class III spoke on inculcating the right eating habits in children. The Junior Chefs of SBA prepared a tempting nutritious snack, Nutritious Ladoos.
The highlight of the day was the Ramp walk (Vita walk) by students of class III which was indeed a lovely performance. The children dressed themselves up as vegetables and fruits. The fruits and vegetables contributed by students of classes III to V were given to Udhavum Karangal Old Age Home in Santhome. The Chief Guest, Dr. Ramya, insisted the students not to waste food and to protect the earth’s precious resources like water and soil. Charts portraying healthy and junk food helped bring awareness among children. The programme made the children to ponder on blotting out hunger from this world and about the need to have proper nourishment through wholesome food. The students understood that when it comes to hunger, the only acceptable number in the world is zero. Overall, the programme was informative, entertaining and thought-provoking.
